One of the hardest things to do when writing a novel is to step back and look at the whole project from afar. What you need is some way of putting the whole thing onto three or four sheets of paper without having to write and maintain a synopsis. yWriter has the solution.
Remember how you can enter a small summary for each file in the project? Well, yWriter will also let you print those summaries as cards. Actually it will print them all on one or more pages but they're ruled up so you can chop them into cards if you like.

To print the summary cards, just click the Project menu heading, followed by the 'Print Summary Cards' option. You can now enter how many cards you want per page (6 to 16). If you've written lots of wordy comments, less is better. If you haven't entered any comments (or only sparse ones) use 16. Once they've printed you can keep them with you to whip out at odd moments to impress people... "Just putting together my next novel, don't you know". Actually, it's useful to write comments directly on the cards and then transfer the comments to the files when you're back in front of the computer.
